Job Description:


Empire State University is currently seeking a full-time Lead Front-End Web Developer (State Title: Lead Programmer-Analyst) in the Office of Information Technology Services to support the university's enterprise administrative systems. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Development, this position requires ongoing communication and interaction with professional and support staff distributed across the state of New York. The selected incumbent will be a team player who is curious about new digital technologies as the university aspires to create a positive user experience for employees and students.

Responsibilities include:
  • Employing technical and functional skills to ensure creation and responsive design of web-applications.
  • Writing functional requirement documents, guides, and mockups or wireframes.
  • Collaborating with Enterprise Application and Architecture (EAA) team to build the best possible digital environment.
  • Ensuring university's branding and style guide are applied consistently to all projects.
  • Reviewing and analyzing user specifications in writing programming code.
  • Designing, developing, modifying and documenting front-end of complex applications on major interactive and/or administrative systems, under the general direction of higher- level computer professionals.
  • Verifying program logic by preparing data for trial runs and by implementing tested changes.
  • Assuming responsibility for less complex systems analysis projects, involving development of subsystems, enhancement of existing systems, and formulation of proposals.
  • Performing well in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree and five years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience with Web development tools (CSS, HTML), Content Management Systems, and version control.
  • Ability to write functional requirement documents, guides, and mockups or wireframes.
  • Experience with UX and UI and an understanding of layout aesthetics.
  • Familiarity with accessibility and WCAG 2.1.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with higher education and responsive design.
  • Understanding of PHP or Twig.
  • Prior work experience as a Front-End Web Developer.
  • Experience with one or more frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, ReactJS).
  • Experience programming in Terminal Four, Omni, or Drupal.
  • Experience with Figma and Git.

  • May involve occasional travel.
  • Occasional weekend and evening work.

Additional Information:


Rank/Salary: SL3/ $60,000-$70,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
